The city of Gori is located 86 km west of Tbilisi and is the birthplace of Joseph Stalin, leader of the Soviet Union. The Stalin Museum in the city center is one of the main attractions, including his childhood home, personal train, and objects related to his life. In addition to the Stalin Museum, the Gori Fortress (Goris-Tsikhe) overlooking the city is also worth visiting. A one-day tour to Gori from Tbilisi is about 2 hours round trip.
