The Mother of Georgia (Kartlis Deda) is a 20-meter symbolic monument built in 1958 on Sololaki Hill. The aluminum statue holds a sword in one hand and a wine bowl in the other, symbolizing resistance against enemies and hospitality toward friends. This symbol well represents the spirit of the Georgian people. From the top of Sololaki Hill you can enjoy a beautiful view of Tbilisi and the Samba Cathedral. The site is accessible on foot from the old town or by car.
